Understanding Who You Are

I want to share with you something that has totally changed my life. Let me start by asking you a few questions-

Let me ask you, what kind of value do you place on your life?  How do you see yourself? Do you see yourself as someone truly special and amazing? Do you deeply believe that you are not just average but one of a kind, a beautiful treasure? What kind of worth do you place on your own life?

The value that we place on something will truly determine how important we think that “something” is. Many people, old and young will go through life questioning their very existence and importance in life. I firmly believe this is a result of never knowing and understanding their value in Christ. Never knowing their “sonship”.

You see the value of something can be determined by what someone would pay for that “thing”. We obviously think the value of a Ferrari is an exceptional car because it cost so much!

But, do you know your own value doesn’t even have a dollar amount!

You were bought with the most precious and rarest commodity in the entire universe. The blood of Jesus Christ! God himself looked into the future and saw your beautiful face and said “I want (your name here). I have to have her as my child! She is the most beautiful thing I have ever beheld”.

God loved you so much and he wanted you as his child that He was willing to send His son Jesus to pay the price for your life.

Jesus the beloved of heaven is what paid for you.

His own blood was shed on Calvary to forever make you a child of the King. A son/daughter of the Most High. Jesus willingly and freely gave Himself to take your place and make you His beloved.

When we begin to focus on these truths in the word of God, they will totally and utterly shatter any misunderstanding about who you are and how you see yourself! We find true acceptance, worth and value that the world can never give us or take away.

No matter where we are at in life, what stage or place, we can truly hold our heads high and know we are precious treasures of our King. No matter if others around us treat us this way or not. Let God be true and every man be a liar.

As you begin to renew your mind to who you are in Christ and how extremely valuable you are, things will begin to change!  God sent His son to die for you because you are that amazing.

LAST -I want to leave you with something that changed my life.

Shortly after Willie and I were married at the begging of my walk with the Lord we were a part of a small group lead by our dear friends. We were going through a course on learning to hear God’s voice.  We sat quietly with eyes closed and allowed the Lord to show us a picture of Him and listen to what He might be saying.

I had come out of years of intense sin and wickedness right before marrying Willie. I had given myself over to dark and evil things and I really needed to understand who I now was in Christ, my worth to God and how my Heavenly Fathe saw me.

I closed my eyes and began to see myself sitting on the steps of what looked like maybe a school or something like it. Then Jesus came and sat down next to me. He was so calm and peaceful clothed in a white robe. We sat quietly next to each other. Then I reached down and took His hand, I was holding it  and staring intently at the hole where the nails had pierced straight through it. I took my own fingers and traced around the hole where the nail had pierced through Him.  My heart was filling with emotion of what He went through on that cross.

But then he stopped my hand and looked me in the eyes gazing deep inside of me peering into my soul and then He spoke…  “well worth it”. His words struck me like a tidal wave.

Who… me? A person who had been the lowest of low and a deliberate sinner of the worst kind when I was in the world! I was worth what Jesus endured? I was worth His nail pierced hands and all he had suffered. It wasn’t just that the world was worth it, I was worth it! Me, personally, Rachel Griffith. His words have forever shaped my heart and thinking.

One word from God has the power to change everything in our lives!

Since that day to this I have given my life to understanding and cultivating this great love. The Creator and Savior of the world believes that you and I were worth enduring the worst pain and anguish that anyone could ever endure. He paid the most precious price possible and that makes you of great value!

Understanding God’s love for me has rid me of insecurities, low self esteem, horrible self worth, fears, pride, hurts and you name it.

These truths healed me from the inside out!

I hope that this has blessed you and encouraged you today. I pray you will dive into God’s word and find out who you are to Him. I compel you to spend time in the presence of Jesus and let Him whisper sweet words to your heart as He did to mine that day.

I would love hearing from you! Comment below with your thoughts and questions or shoot me an email.

Thanks for reading today

Love, Rachel xoxo

  4. Thank you Rachel! I just recently went to Thailand for 2 weeks on a mission trip and led worship there and was blown away by how uninhibited the children sing and worship Jesus. I am struggling with how inhibited we are in America and am praying for revival and definitely need God’s healing power in my own heart. I am weary but I know He has me in His hand. Your story is a blessing and I hope you keep writing. I would love to hear from you. Diane
